Odometer Update

Odometer Update

It is strongly recommended that you update your odometer value in these instances:

  • upon creating the account;
  • at the beginning and end of each fiscal yea;
  • upon adding a new vehicle.

Why? :

1. To comply with government requirements.

2. In the event of a problem with your device, the actual number of kilometres travelled, as displayed on your vehicle’s odometer, can be adjusted during the update.

3. To have the information available in the event of a tax audit.

How to update:

After logging into your ODOTRACK account, in the tabs to the left of your screen, select Configuration, then Vehicles.

Select the desired vehicle from the table to the right of the screen, click on the Odometer tab, then click on Update Odometer.

READING THE VEHICLE’S ODOMETER VALUE:

When noting your vehicle's odometer value, also be sure to enter the date and time the reading was taken.

Subsequent updates

In subsequent updates, you will be prompted to choose from among the following options:

1. Force synchronization: This option will synchronize the odometer value entered in the account with the actual value of the vehicle, without adding trips to the Trips Module;

2. Auto Fix : This option will add a trip, Business or Personal, to the Travel Module based on the difference between the odometer value entered in the account and the actual value of the vehicle;

3. Prorata Auto Fix : This option will add two trips to the Travel Module, prorated by the required adjustment between the odometer value entered in the account and the actual value of the vehicle, in accordance with your Business and Personal percentages since the last odometer update.
